Technology has become a crucial element of global business. Every business has its own IT tools and software in order to manage their business. These programs and applications help businesses reduce their operational costs by automatizing specific tasks. They also assist in improving the security and privacy of their data. Additionally, these programs allow businesses save money they would otherwise spend on hiring more employees. These businesses can invest the money they would have spent hiring additional employees in different areas, such as marketing, cyber security, and employee renewal programs.
The future role of IT will shift rapidly as digital technologies decentralize a number of processes within MNEs. They also alter their roles to deliver value to their customers by shifting the costs and activities away from themselves and toward partners, complementors and consumers at home as well as abroad. This creates new challenges and opportunities. The challenges include an erosion of MNEs’ competitive advantage, as well as the emergence of new threats. In the past, IT and business have had a negative relationship. When projects failed, each pointed the finger at the other. This was made worse by the nature of IT projects which were complex and expensive to create. Even with a contract to ensure that the business was aware of what IT was offering, it was hard to know what could fail. The requirements were also constantly changing during development. The solution to this gap was to create a brand new type of collaboration between IT and IT: the term “partnership.” This partnership is based upon the principle that both parties must be prepared for failure.
